Product leader

What is worth
building?

We can build almost anything. The harder part is deciding what deserves our time, money and attention.

I make product decisions where customer need, technical reality and business value do not neatly agree. Then I turn those decisions into products customers use.

How I think

I want the reasoning on the table before we commit time, money and people.

Four questions I keep asking

01

What changes for the customer or the business if we get this right?

Value created
02

Why is this worth doing now?

Timing and urgency
03

What are we choosing not to do by saying yes?

Opportunity cost
04

What evidence would make us change course?

Evidence to change

Three decisions I would make again

Some decisions looked wrong at first.

Clarity over schedule

I stopped development for two weeks.

I joined a project midway through. The requirements looked complete, but engineers were constantly asking what they meant.

I paused development, went back to the customer and rebuilt the understanding incrementally.

3 weeks late. A product the customer actually wanted and ultimately approved.

A few things I return to when I am not thinking about products.
